What we do

Nucleo’s aim is to bring young people together to create change for themselves and their communities through collective music-making

We provide instruments and deliver all our activities for free, making a musical education accessible for any family, in keeping with our goal of knocking down barriers for and with our students.

What Nucleo has to offer goes beyond music.

Nucleo was founded in North Kensington and continues to deliver its immersive after-school programme there, but in 2022 we are also expanding our work beyond our West London base, taking on the national role passed on to us by Sistema England. This includes two exciting national initiatives that we now run: the Young Leaders Programme and the Instrument Donation Bank.

Meanwhile, at our home-base in W10, we continue to work with around 390 local children. They attend a range of sessions held 6 days a week, 32 weeks a year. Between them, our students speak 42 different languages, attend over 100 different schools, and are learning 14 different instruments.

I’m proud of how many songs I can play, [and] I’m proud of being a part of Nucleo orchestra.
